60 US dollars

Class Description

This two-part class offers a hands-on introduction to silver point, a centuries-old drawing technique known for its soft, subtle lines and slow-building tonal range. Often used by Renaissance artists, silver point involves drawing with a piece of silver wire on a specially prepared surface. Designed with beginners in mind, the class will guide students through the basics—no prior experience needed! You'll learn how to prepare your drawing surface, make marks with silver, and explore the unique qualities of this quiet, meditative medium. Saturdays: May 17th & 24th 10:00am - 12:00pm $60 for both sessions All materials included *Artist’s bio: Hi, I am Molly Troxell-Dennehy, a fine artist who holds a B.A.(Humanities).and a B.S. in Art Education from Crewe Alsager College in England near Liverpool. I am primarily an illustrator and painter. I have been a public school art teacher for most of my career. Training in traditional drawing and drafting is what I feel is of fundamental importance when creating great art. I have done many portraits over the years, which I consider a specialty area. I also enjoy cartooning and bookmaking, and I would consider my style of teaching very therapeutic since I enjoy offering individualized advice.
