Mixed Media Flower Field Class

Saturday June10th 2pm - 4pm

  • 2 hours
  • 55 US dollars
  • State Avenue

Service Description

Students will create a subtly layered and textured painting using bits and pieces of colorful rice paper combined with acrylic, paints, and clear acrylic gel on canvas. Color and paper shapes will be used to create a simple but beautiful abstract landscape consisting of sky, flowers, and greenery. Each student can let the choice of paint color inform the choice of which paper to use and vice versa. This way of combining two elements is a fun and very freeing way to create something wonderful and unique within a loose, relaxed structure. $55 per person includes all materials provided. About the Instructor: The class will be led by Laura Getzoff, a mixed media artist who has been creating beautiful works of art combining paper and paint for many years. About the Instructor: The class will be led by Laura Getzoff, a mixed media artist who has been creating beautiful works of art combining paper and paint for many years. She loves to combine color and texture and sometimes decides what to paint or what papers to use only after getting some colors down on canvas and seeing a figure, landscape, shapes or patterns within the paint. She believes that one of the great things about creating this way is that it leads to joyful and fluid expression—there’s no wrong way to do it. In addition to being a painter she dabbles in photography and is an avid reader of historical mysteries. She has one cat and loves animals. She also loves to collect richly colored and patterned fabrics and once, on the spur of the moment, rather unsuccessfully upholstered an enormous and offensively plain arm chair with 4 different fabrics and bronze studs. After that she decided to stick to painting.
